This blog was put together between 2011 and 2015 by photographer Istvan Pi Toth and graphic designer Elif Ayiter. We both love Istanbul and the crazy cats and dogs that have a prominent place in the life of the city.
Although the blog was discontinued after a while, the cats and dogs are still thriving, as is the city. The photos that we have here have not really aged, things are pretty much as they are. The only difference is that many others, residents of Istanbul as well as visitors, have caught on to the phenomenon of Istanbul cats and dogs and these days one can see many social media posts that feature them. Not to mention that the cats have even starred in an award winning documentary called 'kedi'.
So, it seems that we were only early onto a scene that many others have also taken notice of between then and now.
